CitCo Donates 25 Tablets!

Bernard Wagner

While the Indian government gifted Belize supplies to fight COVID-19, the Belize City Council today handed over twenty-five tablets to two Belize City Primary Schools. The recipients, Calvary Temple and Queen Square Anglican, received the gadgets from Mayor Bernard Wagner.  The tablets come in handy for online learning.

Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor

“We felt that as schools reopen on August tenth, given the circumstances of the pandemic and the new normal, we realize that the teaching environment will have to be different going forward and we felt that as a responsible municipality and responsible council we wanted to contribute to the learning experience of our kids, post COVID. So, we went about getting these tablets. These are RCA high performance tablets with touch screen, as well as keyboards so that we as a municipality are able to contribute because our youths are the future of this country. We can’t sit by and have our youths and our children be impacted in an adverse way going forward. So, we were able to put a little funding together and get it.”

“This donation will go a very long way in helping our students with online distance learning when they are at home amidst the new pandemic.    Teachers do videos, they do lessons and so if the students have this technology they will be able to use the technology to see the lessons rather than only using it on their parents phone through the WhatsApp, but with the tablet they will be able to do more with the technology, with the tablet. They will be able to use the Google classroom as a part of the online learning process. There is more interaction using the tablet, rather than just on the phone. They will be able to access more websites to gain more knowledge on whatever content the teacher is teaching.  If they have the technology at home it will make it easier for them to search. Other siblings can have more access through the technology and parents can be more involved with their students from using the tablets at home.”
