Belize City man gunned down on street

Story Picture
Less than six hours after Geoffrey Mas lost his life in Cayo, a similarly cold-blooded execution was carried out Monday night in Belize City. According to police reports, twenty-one year old Orvin White was sitting with his seventeen year old girlfriend, Juanita Hines in front of her house on Iguana Street when three men approached.

Juanita Hines, Victim’s Girlfriend

“Yesterday around a quarter to eleven, we were outside by the drain sitting down, me, him, my sister and my sister-in-law and my dad. They came and looked for this boy, three guys dressed in full black. They came and look for a guy and then one of the boys asked my sister-in-law if she didn’t see the boy. My sister-in-law said no and they asked “Ozzie” (Orvin) and he said that he didn’t see him. It looked like the guys had something against the boy that they were looking for. So they took out their gun and point it at us and said “Anyone of us.” So we knew that meant they could kill anyone of us. They were going already and I saw them come back and afterwards my boyfriend told them that he knows nothing about what they are talking about, but they said that if he didn’t know that the good will suffer for the bad? Then he just gave the other one the gun and told him to do what he has to do and he just came up to him and shot him. He dropped in the drain and I held him until the police came and took him to the hospital. “

“Do you know who these men were who shot Ozzie?”

Juanita Hines

“I know one of them. I saw one of their face already, but I don’t know the other two.”

Genieve White, Victim’s Sister

“They just killed him just like that, because we didn’t know him as a bad person. We don’t know him to hang out. He goes home, or he visits his girl. They just passed and caught him instead of the person.”

Police are looking for several suspects, but at newstime had not detained anyone.
