U.S. Embassy Hands Over Classroom Building to San Isidro School
On Thursday, the U.S. Embassy in Belize officially handed over to the Ministry of Education a classroom building constructed through the U.S. Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Programme in San Isidro Village in the Toledo District. On hand for the ceremony was Education Minister Patrick Faber, school officials and families of the San Isidro students. According to Chargé d’Affaires Keith Gilges, advancing educational opportunities for the Belizean youth is one of the single most important ways sustainable economic growth and development are created in Belize. Faber said that the school represents the joint effort of many stakeholders to provide the much needed service of education which will develop young people. The project started back in 2018 with the mission to “provide an environment conducive to learning for children in an economically challenged region.” The San Isidro School will now be able to expand the number of students who are able to attend the institution.
