Popular pawnshop founder dies after beating
One month after fifty-six year old James Lemott Sr., founder of JL’s Quick Loan was found unconscious at his home, the man who coined the phrase, “Money in Minutes” has died. Lemott was found on June nineteenth unconscious in the downstairs of his split level home on Benbow Street in Belize City. His daughter Gayle reported to the Amandala Newspaper that her dad had gone drinking on the night of June eighteenth and is not certain what time he returned home. But the following morning Lemott’s wife noticed three louvers from one of the rear windows were missing and when Gayle entered her father’s apartment, she found Lemott lying nude and unconscious on a sofa. The room had been ransacked and found amidst the mess was a two by four piece of lumber. Several items were missing including an assortment of jewelry, a VCR and an undetermined amount of cash. Lemott was first transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and then flown to Guatemala. Although the well-known businessman underwent several surgeries to drain the fluid that had accumulated inside his head, Lemott never regained consciousness and was transported back to the KHMH where he died early this morning. To date, the police have not yet detained anyone in connection with the June incident.
