U.D.P. Leader Elect Speaks on Papa Mena’s Future in the Party
Patrick Faber is also the Leader Elect of the United Democratic Party and is set to lead the U.D.P. into the next general elections in the next few months. So today, he was asked about Frank ‘Papa’ Mena, the U.D.P. area representative for Dangriga. Mena was all for Team John Saldivar and now there are those in his committee that want him gone. According to Faber, Mena desires to seek another term in office. He says that the move to push ‘Papa’ Mena out is being led by a mischief-maker within the U.D.P.
Patrick Faber, Party Leader-Elect, U.D.P.
“He had indicated to the party and to me directly that he is interest in continuing. I will tell you right off that my assessment of the situation that whatever agitation is left in terms of trying to get him to step down does not come from the mayor or town councillor. I remember that there were some who signed a petition. My assessment and I stand to be corrected if that is the case is that what you see lately agitating is coming from one FX Marin who is a notable personality in the constituency who almost every convention offers his name, does not really garner any support. I think in one of the convention he garnered ten votes. So he is not a serious contender and I will say on the record that he creates these kinds of situation that is not ideal for the party. I will do my best as soon as a I can to entertain a meeting but to me this kind of situation is clearly mischievous.”
