PACT awards scholarship

The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) has taken action to provide advanced education for Belizeans in natural resources and protected areas management. PACT has awarded a full scholarship at the University of Belize to Leonardo Chavarria of Punta Gorda to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in natural resources. Chavarria has successfully gained his associate’s degree from UCB in Toledo and will be commencing his bachelor program in August. PACT maintains that this scholarship is only the first of many and the organization looks forward to the University of Belize offering a full bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, concentrating on protected areas. PACT’s annual scholarship will cover tuition, school fees and assistance for housing and is awarded based on grades achieved, financial need and the results of an interview by a panel.
