PM Barrow Comes Down Hard on Border Jumpers

In the House of Representatives today, Prime Minister Dean Barrow reiterated his condemnation for border jumpers.  He says that the constant reports of border jumpers and contrabandistas prompted authorities to confiscate the canoes which he says were ready to cross the border.

“The constant report of residents of border villages still illegally border cross the border. The reports are continuing and are constant and the numbers are not getting any less. The commissioner conducted an operation yesterday and removed a number of canoes that the people had already sort of preposition at various landing areas so they can go across the river and bring back with them not just corona beers but corona virus. So Madam Speaker we got to keep repeating to these people that better must be done and later on we are going to be introducing and hopefully passing today increase penalties for these border jumpers and for those who facilitate and enable them.”
