Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“I must say that along the borders we had a very good weekend. The teams we have along the border did several operations going after those persons who we believe are involved in the contraband trade. Over the weekend we seized a number of contraband goods and a number of persons were detained and are in quarantine now and those persons upon completion of quarantine will be charged under the regulation for border jumping and then they will go to court from there. We must take the issue of the border area serious and we must make people understand the border areas that we have had enough of them going across the border then coming back into the country and putting our people at risk. The operations in those areas are going to continue and we seized some additional canoes over the weekend. Again, once we go in these area and we see these canoes in those landing spots we are going to confiscate them and we see how we go from there.”
