Counterfeit twenties in Orange Walk
Bad money has been showing itself once again, and this time it’s in Orange Walk. On Wednesday Orange Walk police received two complaints from the business community alleging that counterfeit money was being used to buy their products. A thirty-five year old tacos vender reported that at about ten Wednesday morning, a man approached his stand and ordered seven dollars worth of tacos, which he later paid for with a twenty-dollar bill. However, the vender says that upon inspection, he found that the money was not genuine. Similarly, late Wednesday afternoon, a twenty-five year old salesman for the Bowen and Bowen Bottling Company, reported to police that while checking his sales for the day, he discovered a fake twenty-dollar bill. Both bills displayed the same serial number: CBB44499 and police are now asking the public to be on the lookout for any fake currency with that serial number, as it is believed that there are more counterfeit notes in circulation.
