PM Barrow Responds to the Cries of Guinea Grass Villagers

Today, Prime Minister Barrow responded to the cries of villagers of Guinea Grass in Orange Walk.  Residents have been protesting this week for the lack of assistance from the government and the hardships brought about by the lockdown of the village. Prime Minister Barrow says the complaints are in order and the government is contemplating lifting the lockdown in the village.

“They are perfectly I order to make that case and the government in consort with the health authorities will look at the case of each village and make a determination. They might be right if the time has come. If doctor Manza says to us, listen man all of the contact tracing has pretty much been done, we are coming to the end of the line where that exercise is concern then indeed we will lift the state of emergency and hope that when we do so there will a stoppage put to the illegal traffic across the border. But to repeat we clearly keep it under constant review. We hear their cry and we will make a determination one way or another. Certainly I think by the time the next meeting of the National Oversight Committee and cabinet which will take place Monday and Tuesday respectively next week.”
