No leads yet in police investigations
Tonight, twenty-year old Jason Orosco remains at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was stabbed in the chest on Wednesday morning in the Conch Shell Bay area. Although police have been questioning a number of people in the neighborhood, they have only been able to detain one person and are looking for another. Sources told News Five that the young man was assaulted after he got into an altercation with one Nathan McKenzie and another individual only known as “Dye Dye”. Meanwhile, police continue their investigations into the shooting of bar owner Dimas Villas on Wednesday night. Police are still looking for the assailant who jumped into the Belize Old River to escape police custody. According to police, shortly after 8:00 that night Villas received gunshot wounds to the chest and left eye by a young, dark complexioned, slim built man. The assailant apparently entered the Bistro Caribe Bar on North Front Street and ordered a beer. The police say the man then went to the bathroom and returned with a handgun, demanding money from Villas and his friends. The shooting broke out when Villas refused to hand over any money. Villas remains in a stable, but critical condition at the KHMH.
