Security Guard Injured During Robbery Attempt at Twins Supermarket
A security guard on duty at Twins Supermarket on St. Thomas Street had a near brush with death on Saturday morning as an armed robber tried on several occasions to shoot him at point blank range. Thirty-eight-year-old Washington Augustine was accosted by a lone gunman as he stood at the entrance of the store. When the weapon failed to discharge, Augustine attempted to disarm his attacker. During that process, he received several injuries.

“On Saturday morning, sometime shortly after 7:30 a.m., police were called to Twin Supermarket on St. Thomas Street where the security guard, one Washington Augustine, thirty-eight-years-old reported to police that whilst on duty at the said location, he was approached by a dark complexioned male person who pulled out a handgun, pointed it towards him and pulled the trigger several times but the weapon misfired and in the process, he attempted to disarm this person and a struggle ensued which resulted in him receiving several injuries. So far, the suspect has not been identified. Police are following several leads in relation to this matter.”
