San Marcos residents get running water
It was also community spirit and a little financial backing that has some residents of San Marcos Village in the Cayo District enjoying running water tonight. Villagers got together with GOB and the World Bank and invested their own time, energy and money into building an extension to their water system. Members of the community spent the last few months digging trenches, laying pipes and making sure the houses were properly connected. The extension means that ten families who didn’t have running water before can now take indoor showers. The total cost of the extension was close to forty thousand dollars. Benny’s Wholesale Depot provided pipes and fittings while villager Francisco Maldonado supervised the project. The facility will be officially inaugurated on Saturday July 1st.
