BLAST is Here to Fill the Void

BLAST is entering a local landscape that is, for all intents and purposes, the domain of FECTAB.  The Federation of Cruise Tourism Associations of Belize has been experiencing some turbulence within its ranks recently.  Recognizing the vacuum left in the wake of its splintering, BLAST has stepped up to fill the void independently.

“What BLAST is actually doing is filling that void because FECTAB was not very active.  FECTAB was basically just a name and a few individuals that started to make some noise whenever.  You know, something came up that affected certain individuals.  So FECTAB was the Federation of Cruise Tourism Associations of Belize, something like that.  We’re a bit different in that we are a wider composition because FECTAB was basically based in Belize City.  I think it was five or six people from Belize City that made up that entity.  In the case of BLAST, we have members countrywide, from every district and the cayes.  We have our board of directors that’s made up of two people from Corozal, two from Orange Walk, Belize District, Cayo, Stann Creek and Toledo.  So we have seven different areas and fourteen board of directors and from those we have selected our chairperson who is Mr. Nikolai Alvarado.”
