Complaints of Bribes to Transfer Votes

The transfer of voters closes at the end of this month which means there is a rush at Elections and Boundaries offices to get voters in the rolls to be able to vote in the upcoming general elections due in November.  In Corozal Town, long lines of voters queued at the offices of the elections boundaries.  According to attorney Dickie Bradley, who was there, there are complaints all over the country of bribes being offered to voters to entice them to transfer to other divisions using bogus addresses. Bradley says it includes promises of land or cash. The matter is compounded by the fact that the Department does not have the resources to verify the information provided by voters especially those who live in the rural areas. Bradley points out that it is a criminal offense to provide wrong information to the Elections and Boundaries Division.
