Mystery Flight to Belize Unraveled

Dean Barrow

The mystery flight that landed in Belize several weeks ago, whose passenger was being investigated by PM Barrow, has been unraveled.  After causing such a stir, it turns out, that the individual is a major tourism investor in San Pedro with an ongoing development project that has seen an infusion of twenty million U.S. dollars thus far. The investor is from Missouri.   While the PM stopped short of naming names, he did say that the investor limited his travels on the island to his penthouse and the construction site for ten days.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“This was, I have the name of the individual that came, I think the flight originated out of St. Louis.  There is no question but that, in terms of getting the clearance for the flight, Minister Heredia, from San Pedro, did assist.  He makes no apologies about that because the person who came is significant in Ambergris Caye.  He has a twenty-odd million dollar investment called Salt something…  The name of the investment, the tourism investment that the individual has is going on Ambergris Caye and he also owns two additional premises.  He’s the owner of a penthouse and he’s the owner of a condo.  His itinerary was such that he had come to check on the new investment that had been started to which I am told already that twenty million U.S. dollars have been poured, but he stayed at his condo which is maybe a mile or so away from the site of the investment.  He limited himself to going back and forth between the two places, as far as we can tell, and after something like ten days or so, he went back out of the country.”
