A toddler was knocked down and killed in Little Belize in the north over the weekend. Police say a resident of Chunox Village visited a warehouse to conduct business and when he was leaving, he ran over the fourteen-month-old child just before midday on Saturday. The driver of the vehicle is expected to be charged.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Corozal Police were called to Camp Thirty-nine in Little Belize where they observed the lifeless body of a child and it was reported to them that one Gabino Nah had arrived at a warehouse at Little Belize where he alighted the van and was having a conversation with the owner of the warehouse. He later got back into the van and move in a forward motion where he ran over fourteen-month-old Johan Ends who apparently died on the spot. An investigation was carried out where Mr. Nah was detained and later served with a notice of intended prosecution whilst statements were recorded and we are awaiting the post-mortem results before that information is then forwarded to the D.P.P. in order for her to decide.”
