P.U.P. Launches Women and Family Agenda
The People’s United Party is also gearing up elections and has been launching policy documents on a number of areas. On Saturday night, the P.U.P. launched its policy for family and rolled out its Women’s Agenda as a part of their Plan Belize Manifesto. The P.U.P. says that the plan was formulated around four central points and contains seven objectives. The themes include economic opportunities; gender equality and pay equity for women as well as affordable land and housing.
John Briceño, Leader of the Opposition
“The next P.U.P. Government not only will, but is duty bound to ensure that Belizean women and girls have access to the national health insurance. Belizean women can look forward to a government that will empower them through greater economic activities. We will increase women’s access to land and housing. We have many educated women who are working hard as men and this must stop; just as we must end the bias against women when it comes to getting access to farm loans and owning their own home. For this reason, we will promote women in science and technology; engineering and mathematics so that Belizean women too can be a part of the creating of good new jobs.”
