No Election Date Set, but U.D.P. Machinery is Up and Running
There is still no fixed date for the November general elections, aside from the fact that it will be held within the first two weeks of that month. Today, when we asked about the dissolution of the House of Representatives, Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte, who is also the Chairman of the United Democratic Party and a senator, says that while there is constant chatter about a looming date, that decision rests with the prime minister and party leader elect Patrick Faber. From the party’s perspective, Peyrefitte says that the campaign gears are already in motion.

“There’s always talk of when the house will dissolved, especially when you’re this close to an election, but that’s within the purview of the prime minister and the leader elect. So I will leave it to them, for them to answer and determine that. We’re prepared for anything. We know that all we can do is campaign work hard and demonstrate to the people why we are clearly a better option than the P.U.P. and we do our best to convince the people of that and we know that elections will be sometime in November. The prime minister has indicated that, so we have to be prepared for that. We put in all that we need to put in and we are confident that the people can see the clear difference between the U.D.P. and the P.U.P. and that people, we are confident, will give back the U.D.P. the job to manage the economy properly as we have been doing and that’s what we are out there telling the people and that’s what we are out there demonstrating to the people.”
