Crique Jute Farmers Get Free Trees!
In April and May Farmers from Crique Jute and Colombia villages in the south suffered significant losses when forest fires burned out their fields. But shortly after the fires, Copal Tree Farm and Distillery in Toledo started a nursery with over five thousand cacao trees worth over twenty thousand dollars to help the farmers out. Today, the Crique Jute farmers received some of the trees to assist them to rebound from losses they experienced. Resident of Crique Jute Lawrence Bolon received the trees on behalf of the farmers in his village:
Lawrence Bolon, Resident, Crique Jute
“We have over six hundred plants here which are cacao trees received on behalf of the families of Crique Jute. As we all know they were affected during the recent fire. We are very thankful for the Copal Tree Farm & Distillery for contributing these plants to see how the farmers can get back their lives together.”
