National Fire Service HQ Sold for $2.8 Million
As we reported on Monday night the headquarters of the National Fire Service has been sold to the Atlantic Bank. The bank sits just across the fire station on Cleghorn Street in Belize City. The property is considered a prime location in that area of the City. On Monday, Minister Edmond Castro did confirm the sale but did not confirm the price tag. He told us to check with C.E.O. Ruth Meighan who has not answered our request for information. Tonight, we can report that the headquarters of the fire department has been sold off for two point eight million dollars. The sale was finalized in March and the bank gave the government nine months to vacate the premises. Minster Castro says that the new headquarters will be located near Chetumal Boulevard but the problem is that construction has not started and the government has three months to relocate.
