Maria Luisa Mena de Espat is Awarded with the Ohtli 2020 Award

And this news, the Embassy of Mexico in Belize is paying tribute to Maria Luisa Mena de Espat, a well-known Corozal resident.  Espat is being awarded the Ohtli 2020 Award in recognition of the long years she has been assisting Belizeans as well as Mexicans on behalf of the Mexican government. “Ohtli” is a Nahuatl word meaning “way.”  Those who receive the award are personalities, who forge the path with their unique trajectory for the benefit of the Mexican.  The Mexican Embassy said in a release that Espat is the first Belizean to receive the award for her distinguished track record, in line with the theme of “Empowerment of Women Abroad” promoted by the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs which, intends to strengthen gender-sensitive policies.
