Will There be a Prime Ministerial Debate?

Will there be a prime ministerial debate? Well, there has not been one except for a radio exchange between former prime ministers Manuel Esquivel and Said Musa in 1998.   The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, believes there will be one, two weeks prior to the date of general elections in November. A release today says that the B.C.C.I., Galen University and RSV Media Limited (Love FM/TV) have partnered to plan the Prime Ministerial Debate 2020 under the theme “Achieving Sustainable Development in Belize.”  The organizers say they have invited the leaders of the U.D.P., P.U.P., the Belize Progressive Party, and the Belize People’s Front to debate and the responses have been encouraging.  According to the B.C.C.I., the political leaders are taking seriously their responsibility to inform the electorate of their plans for advancing Belize’s sustainable development and a range of socio-economic themes.
