One Robber is Detained following Crossfire

Kenrick Thomas

One of the culprits escaped and another was taken into custody and handed over to the Belize Police Department where an investigation is currently underway. The identity of the detainee will not be shared at this time as charges have not been levelled. Lieutenant Kenrick Thomas says that the officers are unfazed by the incident and the coastguard will maintain its operations along the Haulover Creek and within the Belize City Harbour.

Lt. Kenrick Thomas, Operations Officer, Belize Coast Guard

“The person in the vessel then fled the scene, left the area, heading up the creek and the person that was still in the water at the time, let loose of the vessel and surrendered. The vessel was later recovered by members of that same patrol. That person was detained and handing over to the police where he is under investigation and should be charged. There is an ongoing case study into the matter. What I could assure you is that the Coast Guard will continue to maintain its operation posture inside the Haulover Creek and the Belize City Harbour in an effort to continue supporting the Belize Police Department with their joint operations.”
