Audubon elects new president
The Belize Audubon Society held its annual general meeting on Tuesday night and for some reason the environmental NGO, once an obscure collection of inveterate birdwatchers, has become the focus of politicians from around the country. Over 300 members–over half of whom couldn’t tell the difference between a flycatcher and a flyswatter–jammed into the Radisson to hear an accounting of the society’s good works. The political fireworks were low key, however, as a slate of officers was elected by acclamation. Replacing long term Audubon President Pepe Garcia will be long time Audubon activist David Craig.
