Southside State of Emergency Comes to an End
The Southside State of Emergency, which saw more than one hundred individuals incarcerated on July eight and was extended for two more months, comes to an end tomorrow, October sixth. However, in the last week or so, reports are that the around thirty gang members were being slowly released from prison back into society. At the expiration of the S.O.E., another one hundred gang members are expected to be released. Here’s more from ACP Joseph Myvett on the release.

“In relation to the issue of Belize City, we have stepped up our presence and we are definitely going to increase our operations. I won’t say that the incidents over the weekend in Belize City may not have been related to some of those persons but we are going to be specifically targeting those persons who we know were involved in the weekend incidents in Belize City. As it relates to those persons you spoke about, yes measures are being put in place to deal with any spin off that may arise for when they are released from prison.”
