Police shoot unruly fairgoer

While the profilers were on parade at the National Agriculture and Trade Show on Saturday morning, one man was reportedly picking a fight with the cops. According to police reports, around 10:00 am on Saturday, a police officer on the grounds was informed that one Thomas Hill of Camalote Village was carrying a weapon. The officer, along with a sergeant, found Hill and it is alleged that as the officers approached, Hill attacked them with a sharpened file and bicycle wheel spoke. The officers say they told Hill to drop the items and when he refused, one of the officers shot him in the leg. Hill is reported to have continued his attack and police shot him again, this time in the stomach. Hill was rushed to the Belmopan Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. The Internal Affairs Office of the Police Department has launched an investigation into the shooting and according to Police Press Officer Christy Castillo, witnesses to the incident have been questioned. The case has been submitted to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions who will decide if the officers will be charged with any wrongdoing.
