P.U.P.’s United Women’s Group Calls for Justice for Marisela

As you heard earlier, David Gonzales has been charged for the murder of his wife, Marisela.  By all accounts, the relationship was an abusive one and since the murder, there has been a renewed cry against domestic violence.  Today, the United Women’s Group of the P.U.P. said Marisela was every Belizean woman:  a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and the latest victim of the heinous brutality of domestic violence.  The U.W.G. strongly condemned the loss of another special woman, allegedly at the hands of her spouse.  The U.W.G. also recalled a recent incident involving a prominent politician when nothing was done except to justify why nothing could be done. The U.W.G. calls for justice for Marisela and all other victims of domestic violence saying that a zero tolerance policy must be employed across the board regardless of age, income bracket, race, religion, position or political affiliation.
