B.P.P.’s Candidate in Queen Square Expected to Drop Out of the Race

Gary Matus

The Belize Progressive Party says that they are ready for Nomination Day on Wednesday, but it is very likely that they’ll be short one of their eight candidates. According to Leader Patrick Rogers, their nominators for Gary Matus in Queen Square division have all dropped out because they want to be paid.  According to Roger, they have faced this issue in the last election. And so at the ninth hour, the B.P.P. is making a decision that may see only seven candidates pending Matus dropping out of the race.

Patrick Rogers, Leader of B.P.P.

“This time around, I believe we may lose one of our candidates. The obvious choice is Queen Square where they gone buy off the man six plus six alternate that he had to nominate him. So, as of today the executive has been making a decision about Queen Square division where everybody you go to nominate, they want wah money to nominate you and we don’t do that. We won’t pay anybody in Queen Square to nominate our Queen Square candidate and we may go in with only seven candidates instead of the eight we had planned to just like how we went for thirty-one and only ended up with twenty-five. It is a recurring cycle to get our candidates nominated inna deh division weh dah lone bout the money.”
