Will U.D.P. Consider a Motorcade Should it Win General Elections?

Patrick Faber

A decision has been taken by the U.D.P. to call off all fanfare on Nomination Day, but has the party considered a similar position should it emerge victorious on November eleventh?  It’s a tough question considering that whoever wins the general elections would also have to subdue the celebratory atmosphere that comes with a major victory.

Patrick Faber, Party Leader, U.D.P.

“We have not made such a decision but I think it is a fair suggestion and one that can be discussed in Cabinet and the National Oversight Committee as we move forward.  We are grateful for that suggestion. If what has happened in other parts of the region that are holding elections, then yes, we expect that the turnout will not be what it would have been had we not had the pandemic present.  However, there seems to be a lot of excitement despite the fact that COVID-19 is here for these elections.  Certainly in our party, our goal is to get out our voters and to ensure that we get them to the polls to participate and that is how you win elections, so I suspect that the P.U.P.s are going to do the same.  So we will do the very best job of getting the voters to the polling stations and getting their votes counted.”
