3 Candidates, including 2 Women, to Battle for Belize Rural Central
The two major political parties are fielding female candidates in Belize Rural Central and it is a race to keep an eye on. The incumbent is the U.D.P.’s Beverly Williams who is being challenged by a former minister, Dolores Baldermos Garcia. The campaign in that constituency has become heated as a third candidate; from the B.P.P., has joined the race. As in other constituencies, the event had no fanfare in keeping with the COVID-19 protocols.
Dolores Balderamos-Garcia, P.U.P. Candidate, Belize Rural Central
“We are doing everything in our power to prepare. We will leave no stone unturned. We have our campaigners deployed; we are planning, we are preparing and I don’t want to take anything or anybody for granted. We want to ask the voters to give us the support.”
Beverly Castillo, U.D.P. Candidate, Belize Rural Central
“Confident; the people make me confident. We’ve worked five years tirelessly in this constituency. We’ve helped people in this constituency. We’ve seen numerous accomplishments, development and improvement to people’s lives.”
Lion Bennett Sr., B.P.P. Candidate, Belize Rural Central
“Majority of my supporters are the same red and blue voters who are tired of their party taking them for granted and just treating them like crap over and over. I am different because I am the type of person that gets engaged with my people. I don’t talk it, I get and I put action.”
