Ministry considers new rules on leases
In related news the Ministry of Natural Resources is reviewing its policy on the leasing of house lots, particularly the time in which a lessee must build on the land. At present the time frame is 3 years to complete a house, after which time the lease may be cancelled if no construction has been done. In view of the improved access to low cost construction and financing the ministry is considering reducing that period to a year or 18 months. Involved in formulating the new policy are two new appointees at the Ministry of Natural Resources. They are Pat Mendoza, who will serve as Chief Executive Officer and Jose Cardona whose appointment has been confirmed as Commissioner of Lands and Surveys.
