An Update on Miss Universe Belize Destinee Arnold Scholarship Award
Destinee Arnold also gave News Five an update to her scholarship programme in which a total of eighteen students from across the country were awarded a thousand dollars each to assist them with either their tuition or back to school supplies. The twenty-eight-year-old beauty ambassador decided to use the scholarship money she won to help Belizean children who needed assistance to get back to school. Arnold says that the awardees are in the process of sending their final documents after which the monies will be disbursed through the Ministry of Education.

“I did announce the people who are going to be awarded with the one thousand-dollar scholarship. I am working through paperwork right now because the Ministry of Education is going to be making the payments directly to the schools. So there are documents that I have to collect from the people who were awarded, submit it them and making sure that the Ministry of Education knows where to make the payments to. I know I am not the best via email right now because life is just crazy as a whole right now so bear with me. But I just wanted to provide that update because I know a lot of questions are arising right now. I had been blessed tremendously—with love, with resources—and it is only right for me to give back and this is an area where I can. I was awarded a scholarship that I don’t necessarily need at this moment. There is a greater need in my country for people who are struggling to even get their uniforms or books, not tablets or laptops. So there’s a lot of need and if I kinda lift that burden, that’s basically the main motivator behind this scholarship.”
