Fire Victim Appeals for Help!
Crystal Coleman is asking for the public’s help. She is one of the victims of the apartment fire that happened last week Friday night at the corners of Partridge and Haulze Streets. As we’ve reported, a fire destroyed an eight-room apartment complex and displaced as many as twenty people. The Fire Department reported that the fire was started in one of the rooms by an unattended child. Today, Coleman says that she was at home when the fire broke out in her unit. She visited our studios today to appeal to the public for help. Coleman says she desperately needs a roof over her head. She told us that she is an unemployed, single mother struggling to survive after she lost her belongings in the fire.
Crystal Coleman, Fire Victim
“All I know is that there was a fire and I don’t know how it started or where it started but everyone is accusing me. They said it’s my fault.”
Andrea Polanco
“Where were you at the time of the fire?”
Crystal Coleman
“Right at home.”
Andrea Polanco
“Did you see the fire start in your place?”
Crystal Coleman
“Yes and we ran outside.”
Andrea Polanco
“So, now you need some assistance, talk to me about that. What are looking for right now?”
Crystal Coleman
“I am looking for somewhere to stay – me and my three kids. A two-year-old; four-year-old and a seven-year-old.”
Andrea Polanco
“So, what are you doing in the mean time; where are you holed up?”
Crystal Coleman
“Bouncing from house to house; family members; friends anyone who can help.”
Andrea Polanco
“So, you need a place to stay and I imagine you lost all your belongings as well?”
Crystal Coleman
“Everything. Every single thing has burnt. Every single thing.”
Coleman says that she doesn’t have a contact number but if you wish to help her, you can do so through Facebook Messenger at her Crystal Coleman Facebook account.
