Stann Creek farmer shoots fleeing thieves

Meanwhile, a remarkably similar incident occurred in the Stann Creek District. 52-year old Martin Tzu, of Dangriga, who is not Chinese, told police that on Saturday morning he went to his farm at mile 2 on the Stann Creek Valley Road. However, Tzu says when he got to the farm he saw a sack of plantains outside that should have been inside the compound. Tzu says he feared that someone was stealing from him and went to look. That’s when Tzu says he saw three men running to a nearby farm. He told police he fired warning shots with his 16-gauge shotgun. As a result, Gregory Williams was shot to his back and ears, Jason Locario was shot to the head while Ian Claiz managed to escape unhurt. Williams remains in a stable condition at the Belmopan Hospital. Both Claiz and Locario have been charged with theft while Tzu has been charged with use of deadly means of harm, dangerous harm and wounding.
