Cuba helps Belize in sports

Cooperation between the nations of Belize and Cuba continues to grow, this time in the field of sports. Reports from our embassy in Cuba indicate that this afternoon Belize’s Director of Sports; Clara Cuellar met with the head of Cuba’s National Sports Institute, Humberto Rodriguez. As a result of the discussions Cuba has offered the services of five sports experts who will work within the framework of a newly created Sports Institute. The Cuban government also agreed to award five scholarships this coming academic year for Belizeans to study physical education at Cuban universities. The Cuban experts will begin to arrive over the next few weeks. Cuellar returns to Belize over the weekend.
