ComPol Says No Trick or Treating or Halloween Parties

The spiralling number of COVID-19 cases and the record number of deaths due to the virus have put law enforcement on alert with the weekend activities that are usually associated with Halloween. ComPol Chester Williams is asking parents as well as residents to refrain from trick and treating or they may find themselves tricking in jail.

“It can be frustrating having to be dealing with people trying to get them to do what they themselves know is in their best interest. Yesterday was a sad day. We had a record number of positive cases and we also had a record number of deaths in one day. And I think for those who may have been sitting down on the side and believe that COVID-19 is a hoax; that they would come to realization now that COVID-19 is for real and can affect each and every one of us. I therefore just want to appeal to our people to act responsibly and do the right thing. Remember we have elderly around us, vulnerable people around us, children around us and we have to protect them. I know that tomorrow is Halloween night and I want to say to parents to keep your children home. If they go and trick and treat, they may go and trick in jail. We will not allow people to move around as they may so desire to go and trick and treat in this pandemic. It is dangerous, it is reckless and as enforcers of the quarantine laws, we will do our best to curtail those activities.”
