Off duty police officer killed in Belmopan

It has not been a good week for the Police Department; one officer has been charged with Abetment to Murder, three more may face charges in connection with the same incident, the murder of a Chinese National in Orange Walk Town. Another is under investigation in the death of a twelve year old girl in Cotton Tree in this week alone. And today News Five can confirm that an off-duty police officer was killed this evening in Belmopan. The incident happened in the Salvapan area at around two-thirty while the officer, twenty-six year old Constable Dennis Weiner Young, was riding a bicycle. While details are still sketchy at this time, News Five has learnt Young was shot once in the chest. Young reportedly only lived long enough to tell a resident of the area that he had been shot. The motive of this latest killing is still not certain and Belmopan Police are still at the scene conducting investigations.
