‘Clear the Land’ Distances Himself from Sand Hill Home Invasion
The aggravated burglary at the residence of Marconi Leal on Tuesday night has raised speculation that the incident may have been politically motivated, since the P.U.P. standard bearer for Belize Rural North is running in the upcoming general elections. To dispel any rumours that he or his supporters may have been involved in the incident, area representative Edmond ‘Clear the Land’ Castro has issued a press release condemning the act and standing in solidarity with his political opponent. While expressing relief that no one in the Leal family was seriously injured, Castro thanked Ladyville police for their prompt response. On a personal note, he also acknowledged his friendship with Leal, notwithstanding the fact that they are running against each other. The statement ends by saying that Castro categorically denies any responsibility for such an act or any association with those who perpetrated it.
