Jorge Espat Says Erwin Contreras Needs to Retire

Jorge Espat

With the land shenanigans out in the public, the P.U.P.’s Jorge ‘Milin’ Espat took aim at sitting area representative Erwin Contreras today.  Espat spoke about two ads in circulation, featuring Contreras.  In one of the videos, Contreras is heard saying that he is at the Lands Department making sure that people get their land documents.  In the second video, the alcalde of San Jose Succotz Village is heard saying that Contreras reportedly gave fifty acres of land to a Belizean ambassador.  Espat says it is time for Contreras to retire.

“Yesterday there was an ad stating that the Mayor or the alcadle of San Jose Succotz stating that they got fifty acres of land that was given to Daniel Gutierrez the ambassador to Belize in Washington and that he was practically selling it for twenty thousand dollars an acre. That is a million dollars. How can they afford to give fifty acres of land to one single person and then they will take away land from the persons doing agriculture. There is also an ad with the voice recording of the minister stating that he is in Lands Department, trying to get the documents for the residents. Cabinet is dissolved. That is illegal. There is no minister anymore. There is no ministry.  So those incidents or whatever acts they are doing are going to be revised and made sure we rectify it when we form government.”
