Jorge Espat Takes on Erwin Contreras

Jorge Espat

The P.U.P.’s Standard Bearer for Cayo West, Jorge ‘Milin’ Espat is criticizing his opponent, the U.D.P.’s Erwin Contreras, for reportedly promising land to voters in the area.  According to Espat, this is a last minute desperate attempt by the U.D.P. to hold on to power.

“Do not accept the lies that they have been telling you every time Election Day comes in trying to give you a piece of land for your vote. That is illegal. That is a shame for the minister. That being vindictive of his own people in his own constituency. Don’t take away from your people. Give something to your constituency. That is why you are there for. You run your constituency to try to protect and make sure your constituency flourishes. For more than twenty two years Minister Contreras has been in power with the best portfolio in Cabinet and done nothing in this constituency. This constituency is in darkness.  Being a border constituency, supposed to be flourishing an example for our country but there is no interest. As a matter he doesn’t even reside in this constituency. He lives in Camalote. Shame on the Minister Contreras.”

“The reason you are actually here is because you can gain political mileage on the unfortunates of these families. How do you respond to that?”

Jorge Espat

“I am not here to gain political mileage. I am here in the belief that what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. And I’m always in full support of the right direction.”

Hipolito Novelo

“Sir, do you live here in this constituency?”

Jorge Espat

“I am a Benqueño, but I reside in Belize. I am here presently, living here and all and I do live here with my uncle in this constituency. So yes I live here.”
