Two armed robberies in Belize City
Two knives and a shotgun were the weapons of choice in a pair of unrelated robberies which occurred in Belize City on Wednesday. Shortly after noon, a man described only as being of Creole descent walked into R & J’s Fashion Store on Cemetery Road. He pulled a knife on the female clerk and proceeded to take a $1,000 from the drawer. Not quite satisfied, he also lifted $300 from the woman’s purse. Later in the evening, around 6:45, police report that Nava’s Service Station on North Front Street was hit by a pair of masked men, one wielding a knife and the other a sawed off shotgun. The four employees were relieved of close to $1,400 in cash and jewelry. Police later recovered a loaded 16-gauge shotgun in the nearby Eden Site area behind Courts. They have yet to make an arrest in either robbery.
