Man arrested in rape case
Police have made an arrest in the case of a Belize City woman who was raped in the early hours of Sunday morning. 26 year old Kenrick Gilbert Nunez, an ice vendor of Louise Bevans Street, will be formally arraigned in Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for the crimes of rape, wounding, and aggravated assault. It is alleged that Nunez is the man who, posing as a taxi driver, picked up a 30-year old woman at 2:30 Sunday morning in front of Lodge Hall on Regent Street West. Instead of taking her home, the passenger alleges that the driver carried her to a house on Central American Boulevard where he raped and beat her at knifepoint.
