Finalists ready for spelling bee
The finalists from all 6 districts have now been selected and 12 proud but nervous primary school students are studying hard, some quite literally burning the midnight oil. The big event of course is the National Spelling Bee. Just so you’ll know whom to root for we’ll give you the winners of the district championships who will compete for the big title. They are, from the Belize District, Justine Ysaguirre of Pilgrim Fellowship in Hattieville and Rohan Ramharak of Wesley Upper. For Corozal District Neidy Medina of Presbyterian Day Primary in Cristo Rey Village and Lili Basto of San Pedro Government School. In Cayo, Astrid Salazar of Mount Caramel Primary of Benque Viejo and Phyllicia Pelayo of Roaring Creek Nazarene School. From Stann Creek, Carlos Oviedo of Sacred Heart Primary in Dangriga and Carlos Coc of Red Bank Christian. For Punta Gorda, Jose Salam of Our Lady of Sorrow in Dolores Village and Valentina Chiac of San Luis Rey Primary. From Orange Walk, Al Sanchez of Louisiana Government School and Raijili Garcia of Trial Farm Government School. The national finals will be held on May 12th at the Belize City Centre.
