Basketball season opens in June

Last year’s finale could not have been more exciting and today the Belize Basketball Association announced plans for its upcoming season which will hopefully build on the success of 1999. Friday night, June 2nd is opening night with a rematch between defending champs Phoenix-Footlocker Raiders and runners-up BTL Nets. The league’s press released anticipated at least two district based clubs entering the competition but this may not be confirmed until the registration deadline of May 12th. Registration fees are $7,000 per team and prospective sponsors may contact BBA Secretary Nellie Trench or Commissioner Hilly Martinez.
