MOW Equipment Recovered from Property of Rene Montero
On Thursday, Prime Minister John Briceño said that an investigation will be launched at the Ministry of Works since there have been allegations of massive corruption and abuse within the department. Following that statement, a number of heavy duty equipments were recovered by police from a property belonging to former Works Minister Rene Montero in the west. And again today, the police confiscated another cache of heavy duty equipment belonging to the Ministry of Works, which are now in safekeeping at the Forest Department.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We had received a number of information in terms of heavy equipment that had been removed from either the Ministry of Works or the Forestry Department and the police has been working in retrieving those properties. And yes I know yesterday we retrieved a bulldozer and a front-end loader. And this morning again, the police responded to information that there were other equipment in other areas. And those equipment from what we gather are at the Forest Department and police are now ensuring that those equipment remain where they are and that nobody who do not have authority would go and remove them from where they are.”
Duane Moody
“Sir, these were in the possession of a former government minister?”
Chester Williams
“I believe that the equipment yesterday may have been on the farm of Mister Rene Montero.”
