Dangriga laboratory hit by robbers
Dangriga police are still questioning the usual suspects tonight after a businessman was robbed and his wife knocked unconscious by three masked men wearing military fatigues. Richard Chou, operator of the Dangriga Medical Lab on St. Vincent Street, told News Five that he locked his doors around 8 o’clock Wednesday night and he and his wife headed to their house located at the rear of their property. Chou said suddenly, three men wearing green camouflage clothing and black masks attacked them. Chou’s wife, Helen, was hit in the head with the butt of a small handgun and fell to the ground unconscious, blood pouring from her wound. One man stayed as lookout while the other two held Chou and demanded money. Chou says he dropped the $500 in cash he had been holding and the men picked up the money, jumped over the fence and disappeared into the night. Helen Chou was rushed to the hospital where she was treated for injuries to her head. Doctors have decided to keep her in the hospital for observation. Because the men were masked, the Chous were unable to describe their attackers leaving police with very little physical evidence. Several suspicious characters have been detained but no one has been charged. Chou has been running his business in Dangriga for about 10 years. He says this is the second time he has been robbed. In an update to another armed robbery that occurred in Dangriga at the Shell Gas Station last weekend, the three men detained for questioning were released early this week. According to police reports, around 8 o’clock on Saturday night, a masked man pointed a small handgun at a gas station attendant and made off with more than $800. Dangriga police say they continue to investigate the case.
