“Sista B” Absent from Swearing-in; Is She In or Out?
As we said, “Sista B” was conspicuously absent from this afternoon’s swearing-in ceremony as the newly-elected area representative for Queen’s Square. She succeeds her elder brother and former Prime Minister Dean Barrow who has retired from electoral politics. While it has been rumored that “Sista B” will not be serving the five-year term as opposition representative, when we asked Opposition Leader Patrick Faber this evening if there is any truth to that claim, he told News Five that he is not aware of any such conversation. “Sista B” defeated P.U.P. candidate Alan Pollard on Wednesday by a little over three hundred votes in a fight where many thought the margin of victory would have been wider. Should “Sista B” decide to step down, a bye-election will be called and it is expected that Pollard will once again run in that constituency.
