Family of Ronald Palma Says His Disappearance is Suspicious!

After we spoke with the police, we also got in touch with Palma’s immediate family.  Today, they informed us that they are in Hopkins to follow up his case because they say some pieces of the story on his disappearance simply don’t add up.  To go back to where it started – Palma left his Belize City home last week Thursday morning and informed his girlfriend that he was on a small caye called Bread and Butter along with his boss.  Palma later called his girlfriend and told her that he had gotten into an altercation with his boss and that he was leaving the caye to head back home that evening around six.  That is the last time the family heard from him and so far, he is nowhere to be found.  We asked his sister, Tomonie Elejio about the argument and what the family makes of it.

On the Phone: Tomonie Elejio, Sister of Missing Man

“When he gone on the island, look like he had an argument with his boss because he is a person once he put up his diving equipment, he nuh want nobody else fool with it. And before he left from his house he probably called the boss and ask if his stuff deh put up because he nuh want anybody the use his stuff, so look like when he come dah work and reach on the island he see somebody else the use his diving equipment and from there an argument start between he and his boss. So, the boss said that he left because Ronald was drinking and so he left because he had guests. So, my brother took an old dorey that he had, an old canoe and try to paddle – that was about six-thirty inna the evening. And he called his girlfriend about six-thirty that evening and told her that he deh half way out of the island coming in to Hopkins and that he wah call she when he reaches Hopkins and that was the last time.”

“What does the family make of all of this?”

On the Phone: Tomonie Elejio

“Actually right now, we think dah wah foul play, miss. My bredda dah wah fisherman from he small and even if the canoe turn over or something wrong, he wah try put up that canoe or hold on to it until he could reach a mangrove and he wah swim until he could reach his way.  My brother was drinking and you know that he went out in a canoe that is not good, you as a boss you nuh have to be his friend, you nuh know weh could happen and he nuh deh far. You inna  wah boat weh have engine , nuh tell me you nuh wah try go see if this person reach inland or not, you understand and that is why we puzzled because he the give we one story and then he the give the police a different story.”
