No Ministerial Post for B.R.N. Area Rep., Marconi Leal

Marconi Leal

Marconi Leal is the P.U.P. area representative for Belize Rural North. He defeated three-time U.D.P. representative Edmond Castro by more than six hundred votes.  It is quite a feat for the unassuming Leal and the P.U.P. since Belize Rural North was considered a stronghold for the U.D.P.  Leal, however was not given a ministerial portfolio at this time, and he says he isn’t mad about it.

“I am elected as an area rep for Belize Rural North and that is more important to me right now. I will be able to spend more time in Belize Rural North and be able to deliver the goods that I need. I will be able to move around more freely, instead of being in office in Belmopan and having to deal with the entire country. So for me it is okay.”

“The way I look at it, it is not just one giant. The U.D.P. was loaded with giants and whole lot of them came tumbling them. I defeated one of them. I know that it was going to come. His day had to come and his day came.”
